The Ice Cream Artworks are inspired by the illustrative style of the early 20th Century, especially the work of artist Coles Phillips, known for his stylish images and signature use of negative space. In 1908 he launched his “Fadeaway Girl” style used in advertisements and magazine covers. In the Barely There series elements of the portrait have been removed merging the subject with the background.
