I am an artist, researcher and visual storyteller. I am neurodivergent which means my brain works in a different way. I use objects to tell stories through art. 1/11 About the artist Yvonne J Foster info@yvonnejfoster.com My name is Yvonne. I am an artist, researcher and visual storyteller. I am neurodivergent. This means my brain works in a different way. I like to use objects to tell stories through art. How I see the world: I notice small details that others might miss. I see how things connects together. I like to touch objects to understand them better. Touching helps me remember things. My brain works differently: Reading words and numbers can be hard for me. I cannot make pictures in my head. I need to see and touch real things to make my art. I am very curious and have lots of ideas. My artwork: I use old things to make art: - Old bottles - Wooden boxes - Special books These objects already have stories. I give them new stories. I mix real history with make-believe. My art tells curious and unusual stories about the past. You can use different senses with my art: - You can look - You can touch - You can smell - You can listen Things I enjoy: I am like a history detective. I find forgotten details. I get excited when I find: - Old labels - Interesting numbers - Unusual books and lists How I work: I use my curiosity like a following a treasure hunt. One interesting fact leads to another. I find many exciting things! I have learned to focus on just a few ideas at a time. My journey: It took me a long time to find what I love. People suggested things that didn't feel right for me. When you see the world differently, it can take longer to find your special thing. Working with others: I help solve problems when making art with others. I see how everyone's work fits together. I notice what might be missing and add things in to help everything make sense.
